hurrah!

Providential thing #1 about Mr. Canon XS (Names Tyson, Frank, and Polyphemus are currently in the running. We are taking suggestions starting ... now) --

My parents' old camera that I've been a'hankering to try out just happens to be...
A Canon EOS Rebel XS SLR.
The exact same model in an old film version. HA. How incredible is that? Because they're the same model, both lenses work interchangeably!

So my kit lens is 18 - 55mm. And film camera's kit lens is 35-80mm...giving me a combined 18-80mm! And all salvaged from a near-antique which we happened to have lugged across continents for years and years. Ah life. :)

(I am also using Ms. Film Camera's strap, which is more worn and hence comfy.)

Random books-by-the-bed :) This kind of depth o' field is so easy now! Hurrah! Henry James, Kipling, Lewis, ???, Milne, and Elliot. Twice hurrah!

Let us not forget Harold Archimedes Kodak, who hath served most faithfully up until now, and will always be first in my tender affectionate memories. *applause*

P.S. Sarah got new glasses in the same delivery. Are they not fabulous?

  1. How about the Black Prince of Wales in honor of, well, the Black Prince of Wales (Prince for short)--dog of joy from Istanbul? A fine name for a camera :)
Kasey and I both agree, the shot of the sea oats, or whatever they are, are really lovely!

  2. This is fabulous! This is exciting and thrilling. Sarah's new classes make her look very square. in a good way.

I vote for either Titus or Alexander. Or Alejandro. Alexander because it makes you think of greatness. Alejandro because it sounds more dashing. Titus because Titus is just nice.

  3. Scottimus! I didn't know you visited the bloggish! Black Prince of Wales is very much in the running. I miss Prince and Max (RIP) and Mrs. Hip-Limp whose name was always being debated.

The dogs here though abundant are rather lethargic and unfriendly. After dad's friend got bitten we have been forced to forestall all attempts at pursuing friendly relations with the natives!

Kate, Titus is too noble a name for a camera. Alejandro, on the other hand. . . :D

  4. Well, if you aren't picky about noble names . . . I recently enjoyed listening to "Peter Pan." How 'bout Slightly or Nibs? Or even Wendy if you're looking at girls' names.

Other thoughtses include: Reepicheep, Pip, and Spencer Snypes.

Glad you're enjoying a fresh burst of creativity with the new camera.
