bloodstuffs!

Anatomy & Physiology is the grooviest class. I got to test meself for me blood type today! I couldn't, of course, be anything but an A+ individual all round. (;

Clearly though I have a ways to go before I get to be an A+ nurse. I had to stab myself in three different fingers before I got one willing to yield up its bloodstuffs for the cause. Error #1 was to do with calluses, error #2 to do with not enough deepness of stabbage. #3 was error free (yay!).

There was even a darling little alchohol wipey :D

P.S. This post has been for gleeful purposes only! Let us go over the catechisms.
Q. Should we try this at home without supervision and precautions?
A. No.

To legitimize this post. . .
a blorsom and
some blacknwhite.

And a quiz!

a) this
or

b) this?
finis.

snuffle.

This cold/flu dealio is doggedly persisting. Between the three of us, we've probably blown through a rainforest of tissues by now. Sorry rainforest! We're planning to make up for it by recycling our old essay drafts. The precise details of how we are going to recycle said drafts remains unclear. . .that's Sarah's job. Mom's job is to keep the pile of drafts from spreading out of 1 pile into 7.4 piles. My job is to continue issuing plentiful essay drafts. Clearly, (hello semester project) I will have no trouble upholding my end of the bargain.

Speaking of semester projects! I'm planning to make a portfolio of some of my favorite photographs as a part of my senior project. There aren't that many photos up here, but if any photos you remember strike you as folio material, do comment in the comments, wot.

I know the above photo is terribly composed, but the bobs of bokeh please me so much I have uploaded it anyway. Until very recently I though bokeh was unachievable with my cameratic! Super glad I was wrong.

Speaking of my cameratic, it has been very finicky of late. A few days ago, it appeared to have kicked the bucket. Given up the ghost. Flashed its last. My battery charger is unreliable at best, so we originally thought the problem was power. But several AA battery tries later, it still wasn't turning on.

I clutched it very close and regretted every harsh word about how long it takes to process. I rued each depricating insult against its non-DSLR-ness. I wiped tears off its ridgey plastic hand grip.

Then after I tenderly cleaned out the battery receptor thingies with a q-tip rubbed in babywipes, it blinked and turned on as of aeld. Oh the joy. It had only been dead for about five minutes, but ladles and jellyspoons I ask you. Did I learn my lesson?

Yes. I did. I am very thankful for my dear wacky little nonDSLR of a Kodak z812. I think most of his perceived deficiencies will be taken care of as we continue to get to know each other better. And after all. I kind of like having to work to get my bobs of bokehyness: I appreciate them more. What right have I to get a cameratic which does all the thinking for me before I know how to think myself eh? Right?

Of course right. :D

The end!

All photos taken on my constitutional today, which was pleasant in every way except the frigid wind which blew all the branches round and made for difficulties in composing. Neyse the light was lovely, and goodbye.

:)

as far as creative stuff goes, been nose to the screen with graphic design stuffs. not much aside from that - just ideas :) shall, p'raps, post a few logo possibilities soon.
meanwhile, a couple oldies to keep tiding you over.
been reading No Exit in Lit class and we're heading into existentialism in TWI, so perhaps it isn't strange that the bottom photo reminds me of Sartre?

yay

I got unstuck last night. Sweet relief! It's like being pregnant except with a painting and then finally it's out and it's nothing like you expected but you kind of love it anyway. Hehe... And you're already full of more. Like a neverending series of pregnancies. Nevermind...that sounds weird. And let's hope most people don't scrutinize their kids the way I do my paintin's... Otherwise I feel sorry for my future babies of potentiality and possibility.

anyway, go here to see the [unfinished] product.
(methinks I should combine my two blogs? see the pics then the painting.)

which pic matches best? sooc btw.

of boats and blossoms

Hey I'm Ellen and I'm in a creative rut.

Like the kind where you have about 30 different projects running through your head and no skill to actually execute them. I must have come up with five different concept ideas and arrangements for this painting/poster in my head last night, and no clue how to actually go about it. Every dark/night scene I've tried to draw before has gone dreadfully awry. Then I look online. How to Paint Night Scenes in Watercolor. And the guy is just showing his own [brilliant] Night Scene In Watercolour In Its Formative Stages, followed by sparse commentary: "And then I decided to maybe layer a little Purple #321 with the Forest Green (#12) and just start going over the shapes in the water, very carefully". Thanks for the tips, pal (sarcasm hand raised).

Or maybe it's just that I bit my cheek whilst chewing my lunch. Biting your cheek instead of your noodles is like a flashing neon sign that says "Hi, I'm a klutz in a creative rut."

Or maybe it's that I upload all my images from the weekend and none of them really excite me. Ugh. Oh dear, I must be in a blue funk. (Which combination of words is so amazing it gives me shivers. I tell myself I'm in a blue funk and then I instantly feel better.
And classy. Like, Hi, I'm Ellen, a creative klutz in a blue funk. Oh, yeah baby, let's hang out.
Sure I'll sign you that autograph.)

So anyway, I'm aware that none of these photos have gone with their accompanying commentary. Not to worry. They are just randoms from the week end, taken hastily in between my scenes as Emma Elroy aka The Pride & Prejudice Woman From Joanna's Play and walking the dog - I mean the horse. Louis the horse. Get it right!

It was gloriously eery and grey and the stick reminded me of pirates.

I know the water is uneven. It was a freak of camera not of nature. Or perhaps it was a freak of my alignment when it came to getting the pan shot. Hey, hold the criticism. This was taken like 2 minutes after I woke up. I rolled out of bed and into my clothes and only had barely enough self-possession to grab my camera before they left without me.

I am pretty excited about the days in which I will not need two paragraph disclaimers before posting the photos as seen. Tee hee.

The older girls were still in beddy bye at this point. They totally missed out. So I guess that kind of negates my previous point about early worms? At least Mr. Earthworm saw some of the world before he got devoured. I guess it all boils down to - is it worth it?

I would say it was worth it. And I lied up there actually. This shot does excite me. Not as much as the combo "blue funk", but that would be asking too much.

der guter hund - err, horse - Louis.

And in closing, a little screenshot. I have always been fascinated by scenes in which the characters amble along in nature whilst reading - you know the ones - Sound of Music, Pride and Prejudice.

Well there I am, joining the ranks of the multitaskers. Please note the anachronistic van in the corner. Oopsadaisies, film crew.

And in closing - here I am with my one true love, Mr. Fauntleroy. We did manage to do this scene without laughing. It was nothing short of miraculous.

I'm off to my essay, much revived by this post. I think it was the "blue funk" that did it.
Ta ta!

blinkety

Our - yes, that is the royal we - camera battery charger has been . . .
Oh, what shall we say?
Temporarily misplaced?
Gone missing?
Skedaddled off to goodness knows where and wait till I get my hands on it, by golly?

Have a little zippo-edito bluesky action to tide you over.
I'm sure the lil blinker will turn up one a these here days.

Meantime give this a ponder:

How come nobody ever mentions that the worm had to be early too? He just gets eaten. What if he'd slept in eh? Eh? He'd be alive right now. Or else he'd have died of ripe old age, peacefully, in dignity. Instead? The early bird GETS him. What a world of gruesome meaning in that one word "gets". What sparity of description masking gobs of gore and crunching and -- death. This fable, when told by earthworms to earthworms, is a solemn warning (as opposed to a jolly little lark as we make it to be). How heartless. The Early Bird Gets the Worm. And we all applaud and say jolly good, Early Bird, we shall model ourselves after you and your gruesome habits of picking off with wicked gluttonous precision any earthworms which may just happen to be out for a morning stroll a tad earlier than may be wise.

You see sleeping late is really practically nearly a matter of life and death.
And that, friends, is why I take the utmost care about it. I suggest you have a mind upon your health and do the same.

The end.

P.S. RIP Mr. Earthworm.
