more vacation conglomeration

From the hike up to the overlook where I got most of the view photos a few posts back - it reminds me of a movie or something...That white is fog or clouds over the mountain (dun dun dunnn).

Oh, just the little teensy pool overlooking the little hill there.

There was honeysuckle everywhere - some light refreshment on the way to each meal, wot!
The spiderweb on this plant is a little creepy, I admit.

And now, a brief demonstration of the power of a crop. Exhibit A:

Dearie me, whatever is that? Some darling little red plants?
Eh no. It's: (Exhibit B)

honeysuckle's cousin.

Honeysuckle's Distant Relation!

Oludeniz has its own little (big?) community of paragliders. Because it's basically mountains right up to the waterfront, they can sail off the peaks and land on the beach. At one point mom counted over 20 in the air at once.

happy grain

picture credit: Dr. fowler, who crept outside and snapped us singing after we cleaned the pool &yard stuffs.

It's easy enough to obsess over this or that photographic technique. But I realized when I saw this that the photos I'll treasure most are the ones that capture moments like this one, regardless of technical quality. It's like Ames says: "I could never thank God sufficiently for the splendor He has hidden from the world . . . and revealed to me in your sweetly ordinary face". Sweetly ordinary. Like that moment.

And that's a comfort in all of the cliche pictures I've taken too. It bothered me a bit for a while. Those hibiscus oid plants have been photographed times one million and better than my attempt, too. Why carry on? The I realized that's part of the fun of it. And if each one of the thousand were crafted by God and stuck there in the bud to open up, don't they all deserve to be photographed in their splendour? "Precious things have been put into our hands, and to do nothing to honour them is to do great harm". Of course that's not speaking of red flowers. But let 'em be repeats. Repetition isn't shameful. "Encore" is among the highest of compliments and I say it with gusto. Please keep making those red flowers with the odd pollen shafts! They're beautiful! As Robinson says, "This is an interesting planet. It deserves all the attention you can give it." Photography helps me pay attention. Close attention, with my new happy zoom! Hurrah!

peeper

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Picture this: the sun sets as we drive along, towards Izmir from Fethiye, still a little pinkly brown from our morning in the sunshine. The rays of light sweep across Sarah's face as she stares out the window. Then

BOOM BABY

Ellen wakes up from her sleepy oblivion. Photo opp! Photo opp! WOOOP WOOOP WOOP she shoveth her camera in Sarah's face and breaks the peace of the moment.
Oh well? Because I figured out something fabness! When I think I have come to the end of my zoom. . .

I have not come to the end of my zoom.

Yes! It KEEPS ZOOMING if I toggle to the little flower deal when in manual, instead of manual focusing! It keeps zooming.

This my friends is brilliant news. Behold the door of macro is now slightly ajar!

Lettuce rejoice, alleluyer, amen. Behold the eyeball. (:

conglomerations

We have a trip to Fethiye planned & I grabbed these while cleaning off my card. Father & sister art somewhat sick still with a weird flu/cold thing so we'll probably drive tomorrow instead. Vee shall see. Gives me more time to pare down my collection of books-to-take from sixteen to a more manageable number :P

this picture cracks me up...I was trying to show Hannah what I wanted for her against-the-tree shots for the senior pics and she snapppps!

(creepy flower much?)
